ASCEND

During my internship with Studio Figure, my boss won a competition to put up a public art piece at the once segregated Paramount Theater entrance. “Ascending Light” stands as a living tribute to resilience and collective progress. It tells a visual story that intertwines the history of segregation with the ongoing pursuit of civil rights. Each “step” symbolizes both the obstacles faced and the strides made over time, while the evening glow embodies the enduring hope and perseverance that continue to guide us forward. The once-segregated entrance is now reimagined as a beacon of inclusion, transforming a space of division into one of unity.
